Frequently Asked Questions

Our FAQ section helps you find answers to common plumbing questions quickly and easily.

How do I shut off the main water in my home?

The location of the shut-off valve can vary based on the age of the home. In most newer homes, the valve is located in the utility room near your water heater prior to the water meter. If you still can't find it, look for the shut-off valve near your water meter or where the main water line enters your home. Turn the handle clockwise to close it.

Do you have a drain inspection camera?

Yes, we have state-of-the-art drain inspection cameras that allow us to inspect up to 200 feet of your drain line. Our high-resolution cameras provide a clear view of the inside of your pipes, helping us accurately locate and diagnose any issues, such as clogs, leaks, or damage.

How long should my water heater last?

The lifespan of a water heater depends on several factors, including the type of water heater, the quality of installation, and how well it's maintained. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect from different types of water heaters:

Traditional natural gas water heaters: These can last 6 years or more, depending on the frequency of maintenance and the presence or absence of a scale management system or water softener. Regular maintenance, such as flushing the tank and replacing the anode rod, can help extend the life of your gas water heater.

Electric water heaters: Similar to gas water heaters, electric models typically last around 8 to 12 years. They also benefit from regular maintenance and the use of a water softener if you have hard water.

Tankless water heaters: These units have a longer lifespan, often lasting more than 20 years. Since they don't store water in a tank, they are less susceptible to corrosion and mineral buildup. However, they still require periodic maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

Heat pump water heaters: These energy-efficient units can last 10 to 15 years with proper maintenance. They work by transferring heat from the air to the water, rather than generating heat directly.

Regardless of the type of water heater you have, it's essential to keep an eye out for signs of wear and tear, such as leaks, rusty water, or unusual noises. If you notice any of these issues or if your water heater is approaching the end of its expected lifespan, it's a good idea to have it inspected by a professional plumber.
