Aspen Mountain Plumbing Receives National Praise

Aspen Mountain Plumbing has been featured in Plumber Mag, giving the top-rated Rock Springs, WY, plumbing company national recognition for the unique design of its service vans.

Lance Ball, owner and founder of Aspen Mountain Plumbing, says getting national attention is one of the hardest things for any local plumbing company. But Ball says he wouldn't have been able to do it without the support of a very special community.

"It’s certainly a big accomplishment to see something you dreamed about become a reality. One of the hardest things to do as a plumbing company is to get national recognition. And this would not have been possible without the support we’ve had from the wonderful community of Rock Springs and all the cities and towns that make up Sweetwater County. They have backed us up from the very beginning. And without them, this would not have been possible," says Ball.

Aspen Mountain Plumbing has provided top-quality service in Rock Springs, WY, and surrounding areas for about ten years. And while currently basking in the moment, Ball doesn't forget his humble beginnings.

"I remember my first service vehicle. It was an old heavily used 2000 Chevy Express Van. I bought that for Aspen Mountain Plumbing's first service vehicle back in 2013," he recalls.

As a business owner, you are responsible for all of the risks. After saying goodbye to the old Chevy Express van, Lance put it all on the line by trading in his personal vehicle for what would become Aspen Mountain Plumbing's second service vehicle—a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500.

We all pray for great rewards when taking great risks. Some call it luck; Lance calls it a blessing. For the next four years, Lance and the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with a trailer on the back would set the foundation for Aspen Mountain Plumbing.

Aspen Mountain Plumbing was beginning to gain traction as a local plumbing company. In 2018, Lance saw an opportunity to support a local business owner who was getting ready to hang it up and sail off into the retirement sunset.

Lance recalls driving by long-time business owner Al Kolman's Kolman Woodworking and spotting a 1990 GMC Vandura. Little did he know, it had a brand new motor in it. From that day on, Aspen Mountain Plumbing graduated from plumbing out of pick-up trucks to a full-service box van.

However, the relationship with the 1990 GMC Vandura and its brand new motor was short-lived. And Lance realized that time is money.

"I realized that I was spending too much time repairing service trucks. So in April 2019, I sat down at Fremont Motors and designed a customized plumbing service vehicle. We started with a RAM 3500 cab chassis, and went from there, Fremont Motors and I worked with Knapheide to customize the body. So we had a Dodge RAM 3500 Chassis with a Knapihed body to create the ultimate Aspen Mountain Truck."

And so it was born—the Aspen Mountain Plumbing service van you see today, branded with the Gold Leaf logo and wrapped in gold and brown Wyoming colors, has been solidified as one of the best service vehicles in the country.

Ask around the country, and any good plumber will tell you it’s what’s on the inside that counts. And you should see the inside of the Aspen Mountain Plumbing service vans. Equipped with a custom JetRack Ladder rack system for stowing ladders on the roof inside the van, plumbing technicians no longer need to climb to the top of the vehicle to get access to them. Plus, it avoids having the ladders exposed to those cold Rock Springs winters and prevents theft.

Customizations of the Aspen Mountain Plumbing Van:

  • Remote keyless entry with connection to the outer parts bins.
  • Backup cameras with a 3x5 dash monitor, integrated voice command with Bluetooth for hands-free answering.
  • Steel wheels with all-season tires for summer and studded tires for winter.
  • Overhead storage shelf inside the cab.
  • Flashing safety beacons for parking in streets for drain work.
  • Rear-accessible light switch for winter work.
  • Front-to-rear access doors, so the technician is never exposed to oncoming traffic.

It also has enough space to store all tools safely in the back and carry a 10-foot piece of pipe on the inside so the elements will not affect the pipe, and the expensive copper won’t be stolen. Finally, it wouldn’t be a plumbing warehouse on wheels without the immense amount of floor space to hold all sewer cameras, drain machines, and still hold water heaters or larger fixtures such as toilets.
